Fake websites and internet ads

Scammers create fake webpages and purchase ads on Google or Bing. These ads show up in internet searches to trick you into visiting the fake webpages and giving up your personal information. There may also be QR codes that falsely claim to link to a utility payment page.

To be certain you are visiting our website, type www.alliantenergy.com directly into your browser. Don't do a Google or Bing search and click results there.

Phone scams

If someone calls about your Alliant Energy account, get your most recent Alliant Energy bill. Ask the caller to tell you the account number and the amount due. You can also ask the caller to provide the account address, current bill amount and past due balance.

If the caller cannot provide that information, it isn’t us.

Scammers commonly use fake phone numbers they claim connect to Alliant Energy. They might call and leave this false number, send it in an email or put it in a fake internet advertisement. If you call the number, they’ll pretend to be Alliant Energy and attempt to get your personal or financial information.
